Finding Heating pipes in the Bank of England
What if you have heating pipes embedded in your wall and you run the risk of drilling through them during routine maintenance works? What if your building is one of the most famous buildings in the capital, the iconic Grade 1 listed Bank Of England? That’s when they turned to us for a solution. We supplied and trained their maintenance department in the use of Ground Penetrating Radar so that they could identify the pipes (and anything else that lay beneath the surface) before drilling into the walls to do essential maintenance work.
Whilst we are happy to provide the best-in-class GPR surveys directly, we realise that sometimes a client wants to empower their teams to undertake the work, and that’s when our bespoke training programme comes in. We will work with people of all abilities to help them understand the concepts and practical application of GPR scanning. So whether you want us to do the survey or you want to do it yourself, we can help! And our equipment partner Surveytech can supply the equipment either for rental or purchase. At Acuo, we love to work collaboratively, and to leverage our experience to drive innovation and the adoption of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) methodology in a variety of sectors.
Working in the Bank of England was a particular priviledge and it showed how these technologies can be instrumental in the preservation of historic buildings. With preservation being so crucial to the heritage sector, it showed how new technologies can help protect our architectural gems.
